I am really glad that I was able to be a part of Melvin's life for many reasons. A few are that he is someone who knows how to make everyone smile without even trying. He is an extremely comical guy to converse with. I really like how he spoke his mind and exactly what he was thinking whether it was appropriate or not (in Eileen's view). His stories were great, his smile was great. Melvin was an excellent friend and family member to all and he was a very good grandpa figure to me along with an even better friend and fishing buddy. I enjoyed driving 95 mph on dirt roads with him to get to the lake on time to fish and him letting me drive when I was around the age of 10 and enjoy a cigar with him at the lake. On one specific occasion while Eileen was shopping inside Walmart, Melvin and I took a detour on electric riding carts and had a great evening racing and running into people and causing quite a scene!! I only have great memories of being with Melvin and all of them put a grin on my face. If you were able to know Melvin consider yourself fortunate because he is a one of a kind guy and an all around great person.

To All The Kolker Family: So sorry to read about Mr Kolker's death. I missed my visit with him at the Memorial Day Celebration. Ag said he had not been doing well. My sympathy and prayers to all.

My most heart-felt sympathies to Eileen and the rest of the Kolker Family. I have known the Kolkers all of my life and they have always felt like a second family to me. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I am certain that my Mother (Marion) is gabbing Mel's ears off, catching him up on all of the latest gossip in Heaven. Rest in peace, Mel. Uncle Melvin may you rest in peace. Eileen cherish the years together and the memories. Melvin was one of a kind. Denise, Dean and Dan losing a parent is tough no matter how old and no matter their health but hang onto the memories and cherish the time you had. Eileen, Denice, Dean and Dan and family: We extend our deepest sympathy to all of you. How could you not like Melvin. When I first joined the Lutheran Church in Merrill, he was so nice and thrilled and always had a hand shake and a big grin or smile. He would check on me to make sure I was OK when DeWayne was in the service. Like I have shared before with him and you, I will always remember the Sunday we sat behind him in church and he fell asleep and almost fell out of the pew. I hope this is a good memory for you also. It was always fun visiting him and Eileen. We will never forget the PERSONALIZED MERRILL PHONE BOOK, that was his and his only. Take care all of you. Love Julie and DeWayne.
