Dear Robert and Family, Valda was a "one of a kind" woman. I always will remember her as a brave and spirited woman. She never backed down from a battle with her health; she continued to put on an indomitable front, even until the very end. She certainly had many health challenges that many people would not have been able to bear or endure. Her positive attitude and zest for life indisputably allowed her to live a long life. I am privileged to have known and cared for her. May you all revel in your memories of this vivacious gal.

I first met Valda, many years ago, at a professional conference with her wonderful husband Robert Embree. Valda was kind and helpful. She had a delightful personality and a great sense of humor. She was everyone’s friend. The world is definitely a better place because of people like Valda. May her soul rest in peace.

Dear Uncle Robert, Marlowe, Rodney and families, We were heart broken to learn of Aunt Valda's passing. What a wonderful person she was, full of energy and she possessed an amazing, positive spirit. She used to call me "big guy" when I was in school and it always made me stand up a little taller. I enjoyed the evening meals we were invited to during my college years-always great fun and the dinners were delightful, delicious and elegant. I never knew how she could accomplish it all with everything she had on her plate at the time. What a wonderful mother, wife and citizen she was-generous of spirit, nurturing and creative at home and invariably positive in adversity. You shared a very special bond and provided and example of love and caring in marriage. We shall miss her. Love, Marc and Jane

It was wonderful to enjoy Valda's company over the years. She had a sharp mind and quick funny lines to bring a smile or laugh. She was a great Lady with many talents.

Uncle Robert, Marlowe, Rodney, and families: I remember the great energy and interest in all things and all people that Aunt Valda had (she is the only person to call me "kiddo"-I don't remember the occasion or circumstances, I just remember that it made me feel important). She is remembered fondly by those I know it the Sutton area, who always asked about her when I am there. I know she will be missed, but I also know she will be remembered. My mother and I shared a love of lifelong learning, creative writing, appreciation of the beauty of nature, a love of cats, and more. I am grateful that she was my mother, and she will be deeply missed. Her collection of original poems has an honored place on our book shelf. Whenever I look up the night sky and see the constellation Orion, I will think of the star we named after her.

I will always remember Aunt Valda's strong sense of justice and support of all that was right. She shared her love of the natural world through her poetry and Uncle Bob's music...their world was one of grace and compassion and a visit with Aunt Valda was one that one would remember. She noticed things and listened, she found delight in the simple and knew the music in life. She will be missed by all.

Despite many health difficulties in her life, Mom was always an example of strength and the power of a positive attitude. I learned a great deal of wonderful things from my Mom that have served me well in life. I am so very thankful that we had so many years to share together, but she is and will be greatly missed.

Valda is now the WESTMAR BASKETBALLL STAR IN HEAVEN. I would be shooting baskets at the lone hoop to the north of the mailroom building of the old building which would have been where the United Methodist church has their circlre parking. Then Jane Hansen-Brown, Judy Harderson- ( ) , Marilyn Harderson- Murra, and Joyce Kaiser would be setting up a "hot game of hoops-da-loops." Valda, "the PRO" would seem to smell the game going on and appear in the side doorway and saute her way toward the court. There she proceeded to challenge each playert to the ol Westmar game of EAGLE (know as HORSE) to others. It seemed that our PRO VALADA WOULOD SAHINE AND BE THE GREATEST PLAYER OR SHE ALWAYS SAID SHE WAS. And, as xshe even left before the games were over, she would say..."TILL WE MEET AGAIN ON THE COURT...KEEP PRACTICING....AS I SHALL BE READY FOR YOU!!"

I know Valada has already gotten several games going in HEAVEN, and has gotten several folkjs to get acquiainted and having a great time. VALDA--- YOU GO GAL1111
